As a FOH All-Rounder, you will play a vital role in creating an exceptional dining experience for our guests through the provision of utstadning customer service. Your main responsibilities will include greeting and seating customers, taking food and drink orders accurately, serving drinks and meals, and ensuring a positive dining experience for all patrons. You will also be responsible for handling payment transactions and maintaining a clean and organized dining area. A core part of your focus will be to provide friendly, efficient, and attentive service to customers, ensuring their needs are met and that they have an enjoyable time at our establishment. You will handle various tasks, including taking orders, delivering food and beverages, and maintaining a clean and organized dining area. You should have a friendly and approachable demeanor, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Attention to detail and the ability to work well within a team are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Customer Service:

Greet customers warmly and provide a welcoming atmosphere upon their arrival.
Assist customers in choosing menu items and answer their questions about food and beverages.
Take accurate orders and ensure special dietary requests or allergies are noted and communicated to the kitchen staff.
Serve food and beverages promptly and efficiently.
Monitor customer satisfaction and promptly address any issues or concerns.
2. Order Management:

Utilize the point-of-sale (POS) system to input orders accurately and process payments.
Collaborate with the kitchen staff to ensure orders are prepared correctly and served in a timely manner.
Coordinate with other servers and support staff to ensure smooth order flow and minimize customer wait times.
Assist in packaging and organizing take-away orders, ensuring they are complete and ready for pickup.
3. Table Maintenance and Organization:

Set up tables with appropriate utensils, napkins, and condiments before the guests' arrival.
Clear tables promptly after guests depart and ensure a clean and tidy dining area.
Refill condiments and supplies as needed.
Collaborate with the cleaning staff to ensure regular cleaning and sanitization of tables, chairs, and other dining area equipment.
4. Product Knowledge and Upselling:

Develop a comprehensive understanding of the cafe's menu, including food and beverage options, ingredients, and preparation methods.
Provide recommendations to customers based on their preferences and promote daily specials.
Actively upsell menu items, such as desserts, beverages, or additional side dishes, to enhance the overall dining experience.
5. Team Collaboration:

Communicate effectively with other team members, including kitchen staff, baristas, and managers, to ensure efficient service delivery.
Collaborate with colleagues to assist in food preparation, dishwashing, and other tasks during peak periods or as required.
Support and train new team members to ensure a consistent level of service excellence.
6. General:

Perform duties to the best of ability and knowledge
Comply with relevant organisational policies and procedures to ensure a safe, professional an efficient workplace
Assist all management personnel as required
Any other duties assigned by Management within reasonable expectation of job role
Attend staff meetings as required
Qualifications

Previous experience as a barista in a cafe or specialty coffee shop is highly desirable.
RSA Certifcate
Position requirements:

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner.
Attention to detail and ability to follow specific instructions regarding customer preferences, dietary restrictions, and special requests.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure and delivering quality service.
Clearly and politely communicates with others in a respectful manner that help one’s audience understand what is being conveyed
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
Familiarity with POS systems and basic math skills for order processing and cash handling.
Well presented, approachable, cheerful and sociable manner
Setting high standards of performance for self, assuming responsibility and accountability for successfully completing tasks and self-imposing standards of excellence rather than having standards imposed
Making customers’ needs a primary focus of one's actions while developing and sustaining productive customer relationships
Actively participate as a member of a team to move the team toward the completion of goals
Physical requirements:

Constant standing with some walking
Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time
Ability to speak, hear and see
Continual use of manual dexterity and gross motor skills with frequent use of fine motor skills
Able to reach and bend, frequently lift up to 15 kg and occasionally lift/move up to 25 kg
Able to taste all the types of food prepared in the kitchen (exclusive of allergens/intolerances)
Working conditions:

Generally in an indoor setting
Occasional use of computers
While performing required duties, employee is frequently exposed to heat and cold from the mechanical equipment
Noise level in work environment is usually moderate to loud
Equipment utilised whilst performing duties includes espresso machine, grinders, batch brew machines, (equipment that produces steam and hot water)

Barista position

As a Barista, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional coffee and beverage experiences to our customers in our vibrant cafe. Your main responsibilities will include preparing and serving a variety of coffee and tea beverages, ensuring quality and consistency in every cup. You will also be responsible for taking customer orders, handling cash transactions, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace. Your expertise in coffee preparation, knowledge of different brewing methods, and dedication to quality will contribute to creating a memorable and enjoyable atmosphere for our guests. This role requires a strong focus on customer service, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with others in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Coffee Preparation:

Expertly prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages, including espresso-based drinks, pour-over coffee, and cold brews, ensuring consistency and adherence to cafe standards.
Grind coffee beans to the appropriate consistency for each brewing method.
Calibrate and adjust espresso machines and grinders to maintain optimal extraction and flavour profiles.
Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of coffee equipment, including regular cleaning, descaling, and equipment maintenance tasks.
2. Customer Service:

Greet customers warmly and engage in friendly and knowledgeable conversations about coffee offerings.
Take customer orders accurately and efficiently, paying attention to specific preferences and dietary restrictions.
Provide recommendations on coffee selections, flavour profiles, and specialty drinks to enhance the customer experience.
Ensure prompt and attentive service, managing customer expectations during busy periods.
3. Beverage Quality:

Follow cafe recipes and guidelines to consistently deliver high-quality coffee beverages.
Monitor and adjust brewing parameters, such as water temperature, extraction time, and coffee-to-water ratio, to maintain consistency and taste.
Maintain a keen awareness of coffee freshness, ensuring proper rotation of beans and discarding expired products.
Monitor beverage presentation, including latte art, to ensure visual appeal and attention to detail.
4. Order Management:

Efficiently manage multiple drink orders, prioritizing tasks and maintaining order accuracy.
Collaborate with the cafe server or cashier to coordinate beverage preparation and delivery with food orders.
Process payments accurately using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
